Notes

I have come to notice that all my days seem to start when I get home from school. For some reason, that is how I am segmenting my time in my head.
Here is what the last one has looked like:

Tuesday
8:30pm--get home from school. Fry and egg and shove a sandwich into my face.
9:00pm--house meeting about content for Disantidisestablishmentarianism.
9:30pm--make tea. read Trouillot.
10:30pm--have an argument with Marko about the proper way to pronounce the words "grocery" and "chicago." Get frustrated because the Oxford American Dictionary agrees with the Croatian. Write this off since there can be nothing that is both Oxford and American. Tell Marko this.
10:48pm--listen to the story of how George Soros single-handedly caused Britain to pull out of the EMU by borrowing a billion pounds from the bank of england and then selling them on the exchange market, causeing the pound to crash. He apparently made 2billion in the process though.
11:09pm--Read Durkheim
1:00am--Draw bath. make more tea. Read Durkheim
1:30am--get in bath. Read Sahlins.
2:00am--get out of bath. make some spinache. Read Sahlins on the counter of the kitchen while stirring.
2:20am--eat spinach. Read Sahlins.
2:30am--sleep.
Wednesday
9:30am--get up. Make tea. Put cereal and yogurt in a bowl. Stir. eat. Read Malinowski.
10:00am--get dressed. pack food. Pack bag. Try to wrangle mind-boggling bed-head with water and gel.
10:30am--head to trains. Read notes on Chakrabati on the train.
10:40am--get to school. Review Chakrabati in the lobby.
11:00am--Class: Colonialism and Postcolonial Studies.
11:55am--Break from class. Meet Vlad, who is looking for a native English speaker. Get a formal introduction from David Berliner. Find out that Vlad studies Ukraine too. Make plans to meet in front of the library at 12:45 so I can review the english in some subtitles.
12:00pm--Class: Coloniamism and Postcolonial Studies
12:45pm--Meet Vlad in the library lobby. Watch the trailer of the movie he and his wife are making on Romanian gypsies. Its called Birds Road. Its really good.
12:50pm--Hear "oh my god its jen! jen carroll!! yay!!!" and then get knocked to the ground by Marko who has just run across the hall to tackle me. Get found by Stephen, and discuss wireless routers for the house. Then apologize to Vlad.
12:53pm--Discuss the gypsy population with Vlad, discuss the idiosyncracies of the English language. Spend about 10 minutes talking about the literature on biological citizenship in Ukraine. Get an offer for contacts in L'viv. Score.
1:15pm--fire off a few e mails. Want to write kasia back, but have no time.
1:20pm--review notes on Merton.
1:30pm--Run to nadi's bufe. Get a sandwhich. Run into Asa and walk to class together.
1:40pm--Class: The Logic of Social Inquiry.
3:20pm--gather with the department to discuss where we should go this weekend for Mariya's birthday. Decide that, since I have never heard of the place but have had 3 people mention it today, that God really wants me to go to Zoldpardon on the Buda side on Saturday night to go dancing. i think so, yes.
3:35pm--grab food from locker and go to LapTop lounge. Shove quinoa into my face. Blog. Check e mail.
4:00pm--Listen to the CD of Polish hard-core music that Osa made me. Read Malinowski.
5:30pm--Class: Hungarian
7:00pm--Run like mad across campus
7:03pm--show up slightly late to class: French.
8:30pm--walk home.
9:00pm--convince Wyatt to go running with me.
9:05pm--deny incredible urge to eat.
9:15pm--go running with Wyatt.
9:45pm--shower.
9:50pm--go into the kitchen and eat the hell out of something.
10:00pm--Start over. Read Said and Sahlins till the sun comes up. Prepare presentation for Anthropology of Religions tomorrow morning at 9.
